Mentor Programme: Do You Want To Help New Students?

Where can I find a good science story?

How can I meet all these different deadlines?

What do they expect from me in a reflection?

What external project should I do?

You maybe recognize these questions. Over the year you managed to answer some of these, at least partially. In September a new group of students will start, and they will have similar questions. The lecturers can help with this, and so can the academic advisor, but experienced students (as you all are) can provide insights lecturers and staff don’t have.

To provide some more guidance to new students in their first year, the programme would like to install a mentor programme.

Mentors are second year students who are willing to meet a small group of students (that signed up for this) on 4 moments in the year, to have a chat and share their experiences. This can be organized before events (such as Borrelpraat), or over a coffee or a drink at the end of the week.

Mentors can share their experiences and tips, and the first years know they can contact you when they have a question. In this way, first and second year students will also get to know each other better.

Arrangements will be made together with the mentors based on their availablity and wishes. Time investment: <10 hours/year.

A budget is available to cover some costs.
